Latunde Odeku Medical Library, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. The ADHL is a collaborative initiative of medical librarians in Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe funded by the Office of Global AIDS/U.S. Department of State and the U.S. National Library of Medicine / National Institutes of Health.

| Abstract: | Two young children with hereditary elliptocytosis and severe haemolytic anaemia have been presented. Both had acute malaria infection when admitted to hospital. It is suggested that the acute malaria infection may have precipitated the severe haemolytic anaemia, though malaria could have contributed to the degree of anaemia observed in both children |
