Abstract: The field of human reproduction is a rapidly changing one and as more areas are explored new challenges come into focus. The aim of this paper is to consider some of the major advancements in both male and female reproduction with particular emphasis on those that have immediate relevance to the clinical treatment of infertility. The most recent statistics indicate that 300 million couples have no access to family planning and there are some 60-80 million infertile couples world-wide in a world population of 5.5 billion
